Letters: A better way for police to treat dogs

Re “Rottweiler shooting sparks angry protests,” July 7
The killing of the Rottweiler by a Hawthorne police officer was sad and probably unjustified.
So too is the fact that hundreds of dogs are euthanized weekly in local animal shelters because no one is adopting them.
Perhaps the Hawthorne Police Department can make amends with the community by hosting an animal adoption day.
I would personally help organize it.
