Re “Pope laments ‘indifference’ to migrants,” July 9
I am not a Roman Catholic, nor am I a fan of organized religion. But Pope Francis’ remarks on his trip to the small Italian island of Lampedusa — the favored European landing spot for immigrants sailing from Africa — were stunning in their heartfelt simplicity.
In his plea for compassion toward immigrants, the words Francis spoke seemed to have come straight from Jesus’ mouth.
