Countywide : Storm Could Bring Inch of Rain to Coast

Showers that arrived in Ventura County late Thursday should drop up to an inch of rain on the coast and two inches in the mountains before leaving the area, forecasters said.

A chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue through Saturday, with some of the thunderstorms producing heavy rain, said Dean Jones, a meteorologist with WeatherData Inc., a private weather service.

Winds will pick up Sunday after the system moves through the area, but another storm system now forming in the Gulf of Alaska could bring additional rain by late Tuesday, Jones said.

“We’re still in a storm pattern and until this pattern changes, we can expect to see a storm at least once a week,” Jones said.

Temperatures will remain cool through the weekend, with highs in the 60s and lows in the 30s and 40s, he said.
