Midnight light shows and a chance to barter at the newest Swarovski

Reporting from Las Vegas — Swarovski is about to open its newest location at the Grand Bazaar Shops, and with it comes many firsts for the jewelry and crystal purveyor.
The new Grand Bazaar mall, set to debut in front of Bally’s Las Vegas on Thursday, Feb. 26, will be home to a 400-square-foot boutique with an exterior made from dozens of large, angular facets designed to make the structure resemble a cut crystal.
Inside, find linen, paper and burlap forms and inlays from floor to ceiling, another first among the 2,480 stores in the Swarovski empire. Crystal-enhanced glass spheres suspended from the ceiling play off the light.
Those sphere mimic another first for Swarovski, a crystal-and-LED-light that’s 14 feet in diameter. This Swarovski Starburst lights up with 924 “rays” and more than 1,800 multi-colored, continuously changing LED lights.
Every midnight, the starburst will put on a three-minute light-and-sound show with the light choreographed to world music. A large video screen in the façade of the Swarovski boutique dances along with its own show.
As for the boutique itself, look for jewelry, accessories and some Vegas-only and limited-edition pieces inside, as well as Swarovski’s first-ever “bartering window.” Shoppers can negotiate the price they pay for some of the only-in-Vegas creations such as crystallized Beats Headphones in white, black and blue; a Martin custom-designed crystal classic acoustic guitar; and a Gibson Les Paul electric guitar and crystallized white, black and pink skulls. Those items up for barter change daily.
The boutique will be open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. daily.
