Hawaii: Fifth night free at Disney’s new Aulani resort

Disney’s plush Aulani resort and spa near Honolulu has been open since August, but grand opening discounts keep on coming. The latest is a fifth night free for limited dates at the pricey resort on 21 oceanfront acres.

The deal: Stay four consecutive nights and the fifth night is free. The standard-view room at the resort is the least expensive; it sleeps up to four and has a private porch or balcony. There’s much to do at this resort, particularly with kids: a snorkeling area, pools, tubing stream and stingray encounter led by marine biologists.

When: The offer is good for stays Nov. 27-Dec. 16, Jan. 4-12 and Jan. 16-25. Reservations must be made by Dec. 16.

Tested: The window period for this deal is short, but the dates might work for fans who want to experience these new-style Disney digs. I checked availability for Jan. 16-21 and found a room with this deal that prices out to $319 a night (usually $399 a night), excluding resort fees and tax. If you’re booking online, note that the reservation shows the discounted room rate for each of five nights -- not four nights and a fifth for free.
