Indonesia: Small-ship cruises to Bali, Komodo, Flores

AdventureSmith Explorations has engaged two elegant ships for a new seven-day sailing excursion in Indonesia that takes in East Bali, Komodo Island and Flores. Other stops include the islands of Lombok, Kondo and Sumbawa, whose people are known for their boat-building skills, and Rinca, known for its wildlife. Participants will have an opportunity to look for Komodo dragons, snorkel among rich coral reefs, make a wish at the saltwater lake in Satonda and explore deserted beaches.
Departures alternate between the 14-passenger Katharina, a traditional Indonesian yacht, and the 28-passenger Ombak Putih, a custom-built Indonesian schooner. Cabins on both have private bathrooms and individual air conditioning units; crews are all Indonesian. A reverse itinerary, sailing west to east, is also offered.
Dates: Near weekly departures through mid-September.
Price: From $2,380 per person, double occupancy. Includes accommodations, all meals aboard ship, nonalcoholic beverages, transfers in Flores, guided shore excursions and use of snorkeling gear, sea kayaks and canoes. Gratuities and international airfare are not included.
