Elvis may not be in the building -- or will he be? -- at the opening of the Guest House at Graceland next October.
Elvis Presley Enterprises announced Wednesday that the 450-room hotel adjacent to Elvis Presley’s home-turned-museum in Memphis, Tenn., would begin accepting room reservations for October through December 2016. No word on prices yet.
A splashy grand opening is planned from Oct. 27-30 that will feature live concerts, celebrity appearances and a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
For those who want the VIP treatment, Graceland is selling Founders memberships to the hotel too. The Diamond level (there are no other levels) offers perks like invitations to special events, including the opening celebration, access to the grounds at Graceland and discount room prices.
According to Graceland’s website, you pay $30,000 per person for a Diamond-level founder membership. You can put down $6,000 as an initial membership fee and finance the rest.
The membership is good for 40 years, and you may hand it down to your heirs too.
Graceland says the Guest House is the most “significant enhancement” to the property since it opened to the public in 1982. The National Historic Landmark sees about 500,000 visitors a year.
