Is Johnny Manziel too short to make it as an NFL quarterback? [Poll]

Johnny Manziel is about as big a star as you can find in college football — in status, that is, not in actual height.

After becoming the first freshman ever to win the Heisman Trophy, the Texas A&M; quarterback hasn’t let up this season, completing 70.8% of his passes for 984 yards, 11 touchdowns and three interceptions in 2½ games this season (he was suspended for the first half of the opener against Rice).

Still, there’s already talk that his size — 6-foot-0, 210 pounds — might have a negative effect on where he goes in the draft next April, assuming he forgoes his final two years of eligibility.

Only two other quarterbacks who measured 6-1 or under have been drafted in the first round during the modern era: Michael Vick and Rex Grossman.

But the success of some others taken in later rounds might help pave the way for Manziel.

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees (6-0, 209 pounds) was taken in the second round by the San Diego Chargers back in 2001. He’s a seven-time Pro Bowler who holds the NFL record for most yards thrown in a season.

Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson (5-11, 204 pounds) lasted all the way until the third round in 2012, but led the Seahawks to the playoffs as a rookie.
