Ducks center Nate Thompson out 5-6 months after shoulder surgery

Ducks center Nate Thompson had two tears in the labrum of his left shoulder surgically repaired Friday, the team announced.
Recovery will require an estimated five to six months.
Thompson sustained the injury because of a hit into the boards in the Ducks’ regular-season finale in Arizona in April.
Thompson missed Anaheim’s opening playoff series, a sweep of the Winnipeg Jets, but he played and was effective against the Calgary Flames and Chicago Blackhawks in the Ducks’ next two series.
The ninth-year pro played in 80 games this season. He had five goals, including three game-winning scores, and 13 assists to go along with a plus-minus of zero.
