Deion Sanders denies saying Johnny Manziel has ‘ghetto tendencies’

Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders said “people won’t accept” Heisman Trophy winner and potential first-round draft pick Johnny Manziel because he has “ghetto tendencies.”

Wanna know how I know that? Because Prime Time said so himself.

That’s why I put the words in between quotation marks. Because he actually said them. That’s how it works.

And since it’s a real quote, there is actual audio of Sanders saying, “See, the reason people don’t want to accept Johnny Football is because Johnny Football has ghetto tendencies,” earlier this week on the Tom Joyner Morning Show.

And here it is (at the 6:29 mark):

Yet after being called out in an article on BlackSportsOnline, Sanders flat out called the reporter a liar.

During the radio interview, Sanders was asked what he meant by “ghetto tendencies.”

“Because he was successful, he made it, and he let you all know he made it, and he was cocky, he was flamboyant, and he let you know,” Sanders said.

After he started receiving negative attention for the “ghetto tendencies” remark, Sanders could have offered a further explanation of what he meant. He could have claimed he was misunderstood or that he didn’t have time to clearly articulate what he really meant.

But, instead, the current NFL Network analyst opted to join the likes of Bart Simpson (“I didn’t do it”) and Shaggy (“It wasn’t me”) in making ridiculous denials even though there’s actual proof otherwise.

Only unlike those of the cartoon character and reggae singer, Sanders’ denial wasn’t meant to be ironic.
