Clippers said to be seeking frontcourt help

With the NBA trade deadline approaching, the chatter about possible deals has started to heat up, and the Clippers are among the teams involved in those conversations.
The Clippers are viewed as a team looking for frontcourt help. They are looking for either a starting small forward or a backup big man to play behind all-star power forward Blake Griffin and center DeAndre Jordan, according to NBA executives who were not authorized to speak publicly on the matter.
The trade deadline is noon Pacific time Thursday, so there still is time for team officials to make and receive calls. The Clippers are to play the San Antonio Spurs at Staples Center on Tuesday night.
Because Coach Doc Rivers is also the team’s senior vice president of basketball operations, he’ll have the first and last say on all moves the team makes or doesn’t make.
“There are always a lot of phone calls,” Rivers said before Monday’s practice. “That’s what our jobs are, and everyone else’s job.
“We’re not out there looking for anything or to move anyone. But people are calling so you do listen.”
