Celtics call Doc Rivers news conference, then postpone it to next week
- Share via
The continuing saga of the talks between the Clippers and Boston Celtics took a strange turn Friday when the Celtics called a news conference with Coach Doc Rivers and Danny Ainge, president of basketball operations, for noon EDT. Speculation immediately mounted that a deal had been worked out sending Rivers to the Clippers.
Then the Celtics canceled the news conference, and then they announced that it had been postponed until Monday.
So what does all that mean? No one seems to know.
Did the NBA step in and force the two teams to rework a deal? Did Boston call a news conference prematurely? Did Boston call a news conference hoping to pressure the Clippers into accepting the latest offer?
And what does Chris Paul think of all of this?
We will continue to monitor this soap opera throughout the day.
