Lakers’ week in review

Another week has gone by and the Lakers still have no head coach to replace Mike D’Antoni, who resigned April 30.
The franchise did interview Kurt Rambis, who was on D’Antoni’s staff this past season. Rambis once served as the team’s head coach after the firing of Del Harris -- right before Phil Jackson took over in 2000.
The team’s head-coaching decision will come from more than just owner/executive Jim Buss and General Manager Mitch Kupchak, but all six Buss siblings, who collectively own the majority of the franchise.
Former Lakers guard Derek Fisher could be a possibility, although Jackson, president of the Knicks, is expected to aggressively court the five-time NBA champion guard for New York’s open coaching position.
Would Kobe Bryant make sense as the Lakers head coach? Perhaps, but given it’s against the rules -- it’s not going to happen.
Finally, Lakers Spanish-language radio voice Fernando Gonzalez is suing the Lakers and Time Warner Cable for discrimination based on race, among other claims.
Will the notion of “equal pay for equal work” hold up for Gonzalez, who is not compensated at the same rate as the English-language broadcasters?
