Mark Shapiro to leave Indians for Blue Jays, report says

A person familiar with the decision said that Mark Shapiro, president of the Cleveland Indians, is leaving the team to take the same job with the Toronto Blue Jays.
Shapiro, who has been with Cleveland since 1992, will replace Paul Beeston, who is retiring as the Blue Jays’ chief executive and president. The teams will make the announcement Monday, said the person who spoke Sunday night to the Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the sides were still working through some details.
A.J. Burnett aims to return to Pirates by mid-September
Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander A.J. Burnett, on the disabled list since July 31 because of a strained tendon in his right elbow, threw a 71-pitch bullpen session and says he is hopeful of returning to the rotation by mid-September.

The New York Mets acquired reliever Addison Reed from the Arizona Diamondbacks for minor league pitchers Miller Diaz and Matt Koch.
Reed is expected to join the Mets on Monday when they play Philadelphia.
