Girls’ golf: Freshman Kailie Vongsaga of Diamond Bar shoots 68 to lead qualifiers

Freshman Kailie Vongsaga of Diamond Bar shot a 68 to lead girls’ golf qualifers at Monday’s Southern Section individual regional at Dad Miller Golf Course.
Four other players shot 69s _ Alyaa Abdulghany of Corona del Mar, Amy Matsuoka of Corona del Mar, Vera Markevich Jr. of Xavier Prep and Annika Gino of Saddleback Valley Christian.
The lowest 36 finishers advance to the Southern Section individual finals on Nov. 5 at Western Hills Country Club.
In the Northern Regionals at River Ridge Golf Course, Andrea Lee of Mira Costa shot 68 to place first. Abigail Wiranatha and Alison Chang, both of Walnut, shot 69.
