Girls’ basketball: Palisades tournament begins on Monday

The Palisades tournament begins on Monday, and there figures to be some early clashes among top girls’ basketball teams.
Santa Ana Mater Dei, ranked No. 1 in the state, begins action on Tuesday against Long Beach Millikan at 5:30 p.m.
Monday’s schedule at Palisades: Taft vs. Troy, 4 p.m.; Chaminade vs. Riverside North, 5:30 p.m.; Windward vs. Agoura, 7 p.m.; Marlborough vs. Keppel, 8:30 p.m.
Tuesday’s schedule: Palisades vs. Palos Verdes, 4 p.m.; Mater Dei vs. Long Beach Millikan, 5:30 p.m.; Gardena Serra vs. Garces, 7 p.m.; West Torrance vs. Oaks Christian, 8:30 p.m.
