Football: The Brevin White era begins at Alemany
- Share via
Sophomore Brevin White has taken over as Alemany’s starting quarterback, and his season-opening performance gave every indication of his potential.
He completed 12 of 21 passes for 274 yards and five touchdowns in a 61-7 win over Garfield.
Alemany’s improved defense allowed just 43 yards rushing. That’s a key development considering how many teams in the Mission League plan to run the ball this season.
“Their front five are outstanding,” Garfield Coach Lorenzo Hernandez said.
Linebacker Guy Alford had seven tackles, including a sack. Linebacker Lamin Touray had nine tackles.
Jarrin Pierce caught two touchdowns and made some impressive punt returns.
Next up for Alemany is a Friday game in Oceanside against Colony in the Honor Bowl.
