Football: Sylmar QB Clarence Williams is a sophomore playing like a senior

John Brazil, the former Sylmar offensive coordinator who took over as head coach after the firing of Chris Richards, has come to rely on sophomore quarterback Clarence Williams.
“Sometimes we forget he’s only a sophomore and only 15,” Brazil said. “We place expectations on him like he’s a senior. He’s the leader of our team. He’s an alpha dog. As he goes, we go.”
Williams has been having the best season by a Sylmar quarterback in years, if not in school history. He has passed for 2,608 yards and 36 touchdowns.
He’ll be leading the Spartans (7-3), seeded No. 4 in the City Section Division II playoffs, into a first-round game against Marshall on Friday.
Brazil said he believes Williams is going to be “one of the best quarterbacks” to come out of the City Section by the time he graduates.
