Football: Reese Silofau of Oaks Christian is impact freshman

It’s not unusual to see a freshman making an impact at the varsity level at a skill position, such as running back, quarterback or defensive back, but to do it as a defensive lineman means watch ou.
Reese Silofau, a 6-foot-2, 280-pound freshman defensive lineman at Oaks Christian, is going to have a lot of college recruiters pursuing him in the seasons ahead based on his first two games in high school.
“You wouldn’t know he’s 15,” Coach Jim Benkert said. “He competes at a high level and practices at a high level.”
He had five solo tackles in his high school debut against Sherman Oaks Notre Dame and added two more last week against Cathedral Catholic. He’s got a good motor and good strength for someone so young.
And mentally, he’s very tough.
