Football: A record night for Laguna Beach’s Nathan Lancaster [Updated]
If Nathan Lancaster of Laguna Beach feels a little sore at school on Friday morning, he’ll have a good excuse.
On Thursday night, the 6-foot, 185-pound senior set an Orange County rushing record with 547 yards in 30 carries and scored seven touchdowns in an Orange Coast League game against Santa Ana Calvary Chapel. The old record was 527 yards.
Laguna Beach ended up losing to Calvary Chapel, 62-56, in overtime on a Danny Mattero touchdown pass to Luke Buran. Mattero passed for 505 yards and five touchdowns.
In a Sunset League game, Mike Hayden scored a touchdown midway through the fourth quarter to break a 10-10 tie and lift Los Alamitos past Edison, 16-10.
Correction: An earlier version of this blog had the wrong score of 52-46. The correct final score was 62-56.
