Cross country: Phillip Rocha of Arcadia wins Division 1 title

Phillip Rocha of Arcadia needed to be at his best on Saturday, because Robert Brandt of Loyola wasn’t going down without a fight. Rocha ended up winning the Southern Section Division 1 boys’ cross country title with a time of 14:35, best of the day at Mount San Antonio College. Brandt was second in 14:46.
Burbank Burroughs won the Division 1 team title.
Junior Austin Tamagna of Brea Olinda won the Division 3 race in 14:39 and helped Brea win the Division 3 team title.
The fastest girls’ time of the day was run by Caroline Pietrzk of Malibu who won the Division 4 race in 16:58. Great Oak won the Division 1 girls’ title and Saugus triumphed in Division 2.
Bishop Amat won Division 4 championships in boys and girls.
