Brice Turang, a freshman baseball player at Corona Santiago, has been awarded USA Baseball’s Richard “Dick” Case player of the year award.
It’s the first time a member of the 15U national team has received the oranization’s top award.
Turang batted .553 (21 for 38) during the 15U World Cup. He was the team’s center fielder and leadoff man.
He will be honored during a ceremony in 2015 at Santiago High, where he’s scheduled to make his high school debut this spring.
“He’s a pretty special player,” Coach Ty DeTrinidad said.
College recruiters have already started an all-out recruiting battle for Turang before his first high school game.
