Boys’ basketball: Viewpoint upsets Crespi in opener

The Alpha League was already expected to be a very tough league this season with Windward, Sierra Canyon, Campbell Hall and Brentwood. Add Calabasas Viewpoint to the list.
Viewpoint upset Mission League power Encino Crespi, 66-64, in its season opener on Saturday night.
Tim Howell scored 26 points and Jake Weaver-Thompson had 20. D.J. Ursery scored 29 points for Crespi, which was ranked No. 14 in The Times’ preseason rankings.
