Baseball: Sal Johnson pitches Crespi past Harvard-Westlake, 4-2

Sal Johnson, a senior pitcher, allowed six hits in a complete-game performance to help Encino Crespi knock off No. 2-ranked Harvard-Westlake, 4-2, in a Mission League game on Friday. Mitchell Herbster had three hits and two RBIs and Matt Cassin added two hits for the Celts (7-7, 2-2).
Harvard-Westlake (11-3, 3-1) received three hits from Michael Vokulich. Chaminade defeated Notre Dame, 5-4, on a walk-off three-run home run by sophomore Blake Rutherford in the eighth inning. Chris Colarossi had given Notre Dame a 4-2 lead in the top of the eighth with a two-run double.
Loyola defeated St. Francis, 15-0, behind a no-hitter from Nathan Hadley, who struck out 12, including eight in a row. Dustin Shirley had a home run.
In the Marmonte League, Sherman Brawner hit a two-run home run in Moorpark’s 5-1 win over Thousand Oaks. Connor Kinser threw a two-hitter, striking out three and walking none, in Newbury Park’s 4-1 win over Westlake. Dalton Duarte had two hits. Royal defeated Calabasas, 4-1, behind pitcher Chris Kovach.
Jonny DeLuca and Brandon Shearer each had three hits in Agoura’s 11-10 win over Simi Valley. Tristan Friedl had a home run for the Pioneers.
In the Sunset League, Scott Schultz improved to 6-0 in leading Fountain Valley past Edison, 7-1. Junior Aguilar had three hits and Willie Aguilar had a double, single and two RBIs. Huntington Beach defeated Los Alamitos, 10-1.
In the Marine League, Banning gave Coach John Gonzalez his 400th career victory with a 5-0 win over Gardena. Justin Yanez threw the shutout. Twin brother Jason had three RBIs. Narbonne defeated San Pedro, 12-2. Adrian Perez went four for five with three doubles.
In the East Valley League, sophomore Mikey Gomez threw a no-hitter in Poly’s 5-0 win over Grant. North Hollywood defeated Monroe, 3-2. Eddie Torres and Chris Lung had RBI singles. Ryan Ruiz threw a complete game.
Ben Kaser threw a three-hitter in Cleveland’s 8-0 win over Arleta.
Three Long Beach Wilson pitchers combined for a no-hitter in a 9-0 win over Compton.
Sierra Canyon improved to 10-4 with a 3-0 win over Crossroads. Jackson Ramey threw a complete game.
In the Tri-Valley League, Oaks Christian defeated St. Bonaventure, 4-2. Spencer Vogelbach struck out eight. Chris Davis had three hits.
In the Pacific League, Crescenta Valley defeated Burroughs, 4-1. Austin Brines went four for four. Pasadena defeated Burbank, 6-5.
Great Oak defeated Bishop Amat, 2-1, behind Brad Wegman, who struck out five and walked none. Anthony Walters and Scott Hurst had two hits apiece for Bishop Amat. Aliso Niguel defeated Grossmont, 3-0. San Fernando defeated Gardena Serra, 4-3. Alonzo Garcia struck out eight in five innings. Ariel Torres had two RBIs.
