Baseball: Poly knocks off Kennedy, 2-1

East Valley League champion Sun Valley Poly helped its potential City Section Divsion I playoff pairing on Thursday, knocking off Valley Mission League title contender Granada Hills Kennedy, 2-1.
Matthew Machuca had two hits. Isaac Gutierrez threw 6 2/3 innins and Michael Galindo got the save. Estevan Rodriguez had two hits for Kennedy, and Felix Rubi struck out 10 in defeat.
San Dimas improved to 24-0 with a 10-0 win over Covina. Peter Lambert threw shutout ball once again.
Hamilton clinched at least a share of the Western League title with an 11-1 win over LACES. Dalton Blumenfeld hit his eighth home run, a three-run shot, and finished with four RBI. Palisades defeated University, 4-3.
Temescal Canyon (18-4, 10-1) defeated Heritage, 4-3, in the Sunbelt League. Devin McKesson hit a game-winning two-run double in the seventh.
In the Big VIII League, Norco defeated King, 3-2, to take over sole possession of first place. Danny Agramont pitched Roosevelt past Corona, 2-1. Corona Centennial defeated Corona Santiago, 4-3. Matthew Darr, Dylan Gairing, Cody Cox and Clay Owens had two hits each. Manny Perez threw a complete game.
