It was a day for the pitchers on Tuesday in high school baseball.
There was Jack Flaherty of Harvard-Westlake outdueling Josh Garcia of Chatsworth, 1-0. Flaherty struck out nine and gave up four hits. Garcia, a sophomore, struck out six and gave up two hits.
Tyler Radcliffe allowed three hits and Chris Betts hit a home run in Long Beach Wilson’s 1-0 win over El Dorado.
Sophomore Zack Noll threw a three-hitter in Great Oak’s 1-0 win over Santa Fe Christian.
Matt Campbell of Simi Valley struck out nine and allowed four hits in a 1-0 win over Rio Mesa.
Nathan Hadley of Loyola struck out nine and threw six scoreless innings in Loyola’s 3-0 win over Oak Park.
James Acuna struck out six in four innings in Cypress’ 3-0 win over Marina.
Brandon Ponticelli struck out eight in Alemany’s 2-0 win over Moorpark.
Jeremy Polon allowed one hit in six innings in El Camino Real’s 12-0 win over Palmdale.
Cole Meyer struck out seven in Burroughs’ 5-0 win over Lancaster.
San Clemente defeated Los Alamitos, 5-0. John Sheaks threw a six-hitter. Edison defeated Servite, 5-0. Sophomore Kaz Akamatsu allow four hits in 4 2/3 innings.
Gabe Grancolas threw six innings in Santa Barbara’s 3-0 win over Righetti.
Jackson Smith threw a one-hitter in Palos Verdes’ 5-0 win over Mayfair.
Kevin Chandler threw a complete game in Valencia’s 4-0 win over Camarillo. Devin Davis hit a home run and Chad Bible had three hits.
Sophomore Jack Moberg struck out five and walked none in Vista Murrieta’s 5-1 win over Aliso Niguel.
Jake Bird struck out eight in West Ranch’s 2-1 win over Newbury Park.
Jordan Steele had two hits in Santa Margarita’s 3-2 win over El Modena.
In Agoura’s 18-1 win over Sun Valley Poly, Ryan Fineman, Bryce Fehmel, Dylan Bahr and Albee Weiss each had three hits. Weiss and Daniel Cipriano hit home runs.
Oaks Christian defeated Birmingham, 6-5, in 10 innings. Drew Przybyla drove in the winning run. Freshman Dane Morrow threw 5 1/3 innings. Chris Davis had a double and triple.
Calabasas defeated Quartz Hill, 4-3. Tyler Howell threw a complete game. Charlie Fischer had two hits and two RBIs.
Westlake defeated Burbank, 10-5. Adam Terraza had three hits.
Hart defeated Crespi, 6-5, on Cody Miller’s two-run single in the seventh.
Tyler Smith had a two-run double and Reid Budrovich hit a home run in St. John Bosco’s 13-2 win over Paramount.
St. Francis defeated Bell Gardens, 10-5. Andrew Kim struck out five in six innings. Kevin Baker had three RBIs.
University defeated Taft, 9-6. Saugus defeated Chaminade, 4-2. Roy Verdejo had two hits and two RBIs.
