Jared Snyder is no longer coaching Valencia’s baseball team.
The William S. Hart Union High School District released a statement on Friday that Snyder has taken a leave of absence. Michael Killinger said he has assumed the coaching duties for the rest of the season. He has been an assistant for 11 years.
Valencia is 3-3 and 0-1 in the Foothill League entering Friday’s game against Hart.
Players were informed of the coaching change at lunch time.
“The kids were a little bit in shock,” Killinger said.
Valencia Athletic Director Brian Stiman referred all questions regarding Snyder to the district office. The district spokeswoman declined further comment.
Snyder has been the head coach since 1998. His program is known for having one of the best fundraising programs, and issues regarding money could be involved.
