Baseball: Jack Flaherty is ready to pitch

Jack Flaherty, who was 13-0 as a pitcher last season in leading Harvard-Westlake to the Southern Section Division 1 championship, will make his season debut on the mound on Tuesday at O’Malley Family Field in a 3 p.m. game against Westlake.
“He looks great,” Coach Matt LaCour said.
The scouts figure to be out en force to watch the individual matchup between Flaherty and Westlake shortstop Luke Dykstra. Both are considered top pro prospects.
Flaherty is one of the most precision pitchers around, with tremendous control. But how can he top last season’s performance?
“I don’t know if he can duplicate last season, but he’s an even better pitcher,” LaCour said.
