Baseball: Agoura opens three-game lead in Marmonte League

Barring a major collapse by first-place Agoura, the Marmonte League baseball race appears to be over.
The Chargers upped their lead to three games on Wednesday after a 3-0 victory over second-place Thousand Oaks. Andy Sondreal threw a three-hitter and Daniel Cipriano went three for three.
Nick Noack threw a three-hitter and Tyler Flores had three hits in Westlake’s 4-3 win over Simi Valley. Kyle Coolidge had four hits and four RBIs in Newbury Park’s 12-4 win over Calabasas. Zander Clarke added three hits. Moorpark defeated Royal, 8-5. Sherman Brawner had two hits and three RBIs.
In the South Coast League, Patrick Sandoval threw a two-hitter in Mission Viejo’s 3-0 victory over Capistrano Valley. Trabuco Hills defeated El Toro, 3-1. Nik Miroshnichenko had three hits and Cole Stanton hit a home run.
In the Foothill League, there’s a four-way tie for first place among Hart (7-3), Valencia (7-3), West Ranch (7-3) and Saugus (7-3) after another strange day.
West Ranch scored one run in the sixth and three in the bottom of the seventh to defeat Hart, 4-3. Jason Drees, Jagger Rusconi and Davis LeBarron each had two hits. LeBarron had a two-run single in the seventh. Jake Bird struck out 11 and gave up a two-run home run to Chad Haslock.
Valencia defeated Saugus, 5-0, behind a complete-game shutout from Kevin Chandler.
In the Sunset League, Huntington Beach defeated Marina, 4-2. Cooper Moore had two hits and two RBIs. Logan Pouelsen threw 1 2/3 shutout innings for the save. Fountain Valley defeated Newport Harbor, 3-2. Daniel Patzlaff had two hits and got the pitching victory. Daniel Rosica added two hits. Edison defeated Los Alamitos, 3-2.
In the Century League, Esperanza rallied for a 9-7, eight-inning win over El Modena. Jacob White went three for three and Griffin Barnes had a home run.
In the Empire League, Joseph Ortiz had three hits in Pacifica’s 7-3 win over Cypress.
In the Valle Vista League, Jordan Palacio struck out nine and walked none in Baldwin Park’s 7-1 win over Pomona. Christian Barraza had three hits.
In the Bay League, Redondo defeated West Torrance, 9-5. Cain Castor had a home run.
El Segundo defeated Lawndale, 12-0. Tanner Stevens allowed one hit in four innings.
Chase Lambert had three hits and four RBIs in Malibu’s 5-4 win over Fillmore.
Warren swept a doubleheader from Monrovia, 9-4 and 4-3. Bryan Duenas threw a complete game in the first game.Alan Trejo, Tony Monroy, Christian Altamirano and Brandon Hernandez each had two hits. In the second game, Alan Trejo struck out eight to improve to 6-0. Julian Perez had two doubles.
California defeated Whittier, 5-1. Daniel Alvarez threw a two-hitter, striking out eight and walking none.
