Baseball: Brian Gadsby throws shutout for Crescenta Valley

UCLA-bound Brian Gadsby struck out six, walked none and threw a complete game in leading Crescenta Valley to a 6-0 victory over Warren on Friday night. Nico Arredondo had two RBI.
Mater Dei 10, St. John Bosco 4: Josh Stephen had four hits and two RBI for the Monarchs in the championship game of the Newport Elks tournament. Stephen was named tournament MVP.
Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 3-4, Chatsworth 2-5: Michael Wilson got the final out with the tying and winning run on base in the seventh of the first game. Lukas Surbeck had a two-run double. Notre Dame improved to 6-0. In the second game, Andrew Renteria broke a 4-4 tie with an RBI single in the seventh for Chatworth. Renteria had three hits.
Chaminade 10, Oxnard Pacifica 6: Blake Rutherford hit a grand slam for the Eagles. Nick Kahle added two hits.
Valencia 6, Carter 2: Dylan Thomas allowed four hits in a complete game. Scott Orgin and AJ Medina each had three hits for the Vikings (4-1).
Birmingham 4, Sierra Canyon 1: Isaac Meza took a no-hitter into the seventh. Ryan Mendoza had twor RBI and Edgar Rivas had two hits.
Sun Valley Poly 6, Granada Hills 5: Down, 5-0, the Parrots scored six runs in the bottom of the seventh to pull out the win. Gerry Perez had the walk-off hit.
Tesoro 2, Esperanza 0: Spencer Heinsus threw a three-hitter.
San Juan Hills 2, Beckman 1: Connor Fidone had three hits in defeat for Beckman.
Moorpark 8, Lancaster 1: Patrick Valdez went three for three for the Musketeers.
Santa Barbara 5, San Marcos 2: In a Channel League opener, Trevor Moropoulos (2-0) limited San Marcos to one hit through four innings
