Dodgers’ Dan Haren struggles in 5-3 loss to Diamondbacks

Reporting from Phoenix — KEY MOMENT: With the score tied 3-3 in the fifth inning, Dan Haren served up a two-run home run to Eric Chavez.

AT THE PLATE: The Dodgers’ entire run production came on two home runs — a solo shot by Hanley Ramirez in the first inning and a two-run blast by Adrian Gonzalez in the third. Yasiel Puig’s career-long hitting streak ended at 16 games, as he was 0 for 3. On his final plate appearance, Puig was struck in the left knee by a pitch.

ON THE MOUND: Haren was charged with five runs (four earned) and 10 hits over six innings. Brandon League pitched two scoreless innings of relief, extending his shutout streak to 201/3 innings. League hasn’t given up an earned run in any of his last 13 appearances.

ON THE MEND: Hyun-Jin Ryu is scheduled to start Wednesday for the Dodgers against the New York Mets at Citi Field, Manager Don Mattingly said. Ryu has been on the disabled list since April 28 with inflammation in his throwing shoulder. He threw a bullpen session Tuesday and a four-inning simulated game Friday. With Ryu returning to the rotation, Paul Maholm will move to the bullpen. In seven starts, Maholm is 1-7 with a 5.50 earned-run average.

DOWN ON THE FARM: Second baseman Alex Guerrero hit two home runs for triple-A Albuquerque, his fourth and fifth of a four-game series against Fresno. Guerrero now has nine home runs on the season and is batting .355. The Dodgers’ other new high-priced Cuban infield prospect, shortstop Erisbel Arruebarrena, hit his first home run for double-A Chattanooga. The defensively inclined Arruebarrena is batting .217.
