Two months after being paralyzed below the waist in an all-terrain-vehicle accident, former Olympic swimmer Amy Van Dyken-Rouen was expected to leave the hospital Thursday.
The 41-year-old has kept fans informed of her progress through social media. She tweeted about her release from Craig Hospital in Colorado.
“Just said good bye to my night techs,” she wrote on Thursday. “I’m so excited to leave, but so sad to leave the people at (the Craig).”
Van Dyken-Rouen won six gold medals during her career. She was injured in Arizona on June 6, severing her spine.
She is married to former Denver Broncos punter Tom Rouen.
