LOS ANGELES – Visiting UC Irvine scored the first four goals of the fourth quarter to break a 5-5 tie, then held on in the nonconference game on Saturday.
Jack Trush led the Anteaters with three goals, while Bryant Jourdrie added two.
Matej Matijevic had 15 saves for UCI (5-2).
LMU is 2-5.
UCI plays host to Cal Baptist on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

UC Riverside Invitational
RIVERSIDE – UC Irvine senior Isaiah Thompson finished 14th to lead the Anteaters to a seventh-place finish on Saturday at UC Riverside.
Thompson completed the 8,000-meter course in 24 minutes, 28.81 seconds.
Izzak Mireles (20th in 24:39.38) and Branden Randall (34th in 24:57.65) also stood out for UCI.

UC Riverside Invitational
RIVERSIDE – UC Irvine freshman Anastasia Karnaze finished 44th to help UCI finish 15th as a team on Saturday at UC Riverside.
Karnaze, who was 27th among NCAA Division I runners, completed the 6,000-meter course in 21 minuts, 27.97 seconds.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Bakersfield tournament
UC Irvine closed the three-match, two-day event completed Saturday with a 24-26, 25-23, 25-18, 25-13 triumph over host Cal State Bakersfield.
Victoria Dennis had a match-high 17 kills, while Harlee Kekauoha added 12 kills, 13 digs and six block assists for the winners (5-9).
Bakersfield is 3-10.
Earlier Saturday, UCI lost, 25-22, 24-26, 25-20, 21-25, 15-12, to Northern Arizona, despite 19 kills from Dennis, and 14 kills and 16 digs from Kekauoha.
On Friday, UCI swept San Francisco, 25-17, 25-18, 25-11, hitting .456 as a team. Dennis led the way with 12 kills.

Vanguard def. Life Pacific
The host Lions hit .451 as a team to produce a 25-6, 25-17, 25-18 thumping in the nonconference match on Friday.
Sam Rice had 13 kills and hit .647 and Rebecca Lowden had a team-best 11 digs for Vanguard (5-10).
Life Pacific is 1-8.

The host Anteaters trailed, 3-0, before Matthew Tilley headed in a corner kick by Luis Leon in the 57th minute of the nonconference game Saturday.
UCI (1-6) off to the worst start in program history, had 10 shots, three fewer than the Lobos (5-2).
