A cooking fire caused significant damage to an Emerald Bay home in Laguna Beach on Tuesday night, according to fire officials.
The blaze was reported around 6 p.m. in the 1000 block of Emerald Bay, said Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Larry Kurtz.
Investigators found that a steak that had been left cooking on a stove ignited the blaze, which extended from the kitchen into the attic and through the roof, causing $150,000 in damage to the property, Kurtz said.
Twenty-six firefighters from the OCFA, Laguna Beach and Newport Beach fire departments knocked down the blaze in about 20 minutes, he said. No injuries were reported.
