‘Luau’ serves up summertime fun in Costa Mesa

Costa Mesa residents celebrated summer on Friday with a night of games and other activities at the Downtown Recreation Center.

The 2 1/2-hour event, dubbed a “luau” by organizers, featured glow-in-the-dark Frisbee golf, a bean bag toss and games for children and adults.

Guests also could enjoy free snow cones and take a nighttime dip in the pool.

The Downtown Recreation Center at 1860 Anaheim Ave. includes a gymnasium, a gymnastics room and a 25-yard outdoor pool.
