Corona del Mar High senior Matt Sherburne has been named Pacific Coast League MVP in boys’ water polo, highlighting the Sea Kings’ all-league selections.
Senior driver Jay Neiger and junior utility Jack Trush were first-team all-league honorees for CdM.
Sherburne, a center, led the Sea Kings with 89 goals. He helped CdM (17-12, 9-1 in league) earn a share of the league title with Northwood. It was CdM’s 15th straight PCL title.
Sherburne also was a first-team All-CIF Division 1 selection.
CdM senior goalie Ryan Hamm and senior Charlie Rodosky were second-team all-league honorees.
Northwood senior Tim Shaw earned the league’s top goalie honor for the Timberwolves, coached by former Newport Harbor player Jocelyn Manderino, who split two league meetings with CdM and handed the Sea Kings their first league loss in 10 years.
