Video: Newport Harbor, Orange Lutheran compete for Emma Griffith

The Newport Harbor High and Orange Lutheran girls’ volleyball teams, along with Saddleback Volleyball Club, recently united and competed to raise funds for Emma Griffith, an Estancia sophomore who was diagnosed with cancer in June.

The motto, “Fight Like a Girl,” is being used to describe Griffith as well as raise money for and support Griffith and her family. Griffith’s mother, Jenny, played at Newport Harbor and was a coach at Orange Lutheran. Her sister, Abby, also played at Orange Lutheran.

Griffith was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a type of cancer that starts in the bones. She was featured in the Daily Pilot in July.
