College Roundup: UCI suffers second sweep

SANTA BARBARA — The Anteaters were swept for the second time in Big West Conference action, falling 25-19, 25-21, 26-24 Saturday at the Thunderdome.
Cassidy Pickrell, Shannon Fleming and Marisa Bubica each totaled eight kills apiece for UCI (9-7, 0-2 in conference), while Hannah Nabbout topped the team with 11 digs. Shelley Anderson posted 30 assists to go along with two aces three kills and a pair of block assists.
UCI returns to action Saturday against Hawaii at Crawford Court for a 7 p.m. first serve.

The Master’s def. Vanguard
SANTA CLARITA — Jessica Neves led the Lions with 10 kills, 22 assists and 12 digs, but The Masters won the Golden State Athletic Conference match, 25-15, 20-25, 26-28, 25-17, 15-9, Saturday.
Stephanie Flores had eight kills, Rachael Barker had seven kills and Sarah McKinny and Charlotte Heerlyn had six kills each for Vanguard (12-4, 1-2 in conference).
Ashli Bellinger had 16 digs and Myranda Cunningham had nine digs.
The Master’s is 12-3, 2-1.
