NEWPORT BEACH — Team captain Jordan Blanchfield scored two goals to help lead the Sailors to the Sunset League-opening win Tuesday.
Daniela Vazquez and Elizabeth Muenchow also scored, while Emily Conant and Alexa Luckow provided an assist each for Newport Harbor.
Goalkeeper Erika Nilsson made four saves for the Sailors, who play at Fountain Valley on Thursday.

DOWNEY — Juliette Singarella had nine kills and four aces to help lead the Lightning to a 25-9, 25-9, 25-9, 25-9 victory in their Academy League opener Tuesday.
Natalie Moshayedi had 14 assists and five aces and Halland McKenna had seven kills, five digs and one ace for Sage Hill (11-4, 1-0 in league), ranked No. 1 in CIF Southern Section Division 3-A.
The Lightning play host to Whitney Friday at 5 p.m.

COSTA MESA — Grace Ferrell shot two-over-par 37 to earn medalist honors for the Sailors in the Sunset League match at Costa Mesa Country Club Tuesday.
Tehya Corona (43), Sabrina Weiler (48), Christina Ferrera (49) and Madison Fernandez (51) also scored for Newport Harbor (5-4, 1-2 in league), which plays against Los Alamitos Wednesday at Big Canyon Country Club.

IRVINE — Alyaa Abdulghany shot two-under-par 34 to earn medalist honors for the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League match at Strawberry Farms Golf Course Monday.
Amy Matsuoka (40), Karlie Moses (42), Gabby Kinear (46) and Kelley King (47) also scored for CdM.

Grafton Weiss Memorial Tournament
ANAHEIM — Costa Mesa finished in a three-way tie for first after the round-robin championship bracket Saturday at Katella High.
Costa Mesa beat Laguna Hills, 11-5, behind six goals from Raymond Andrade. The Mustangs also lost to Cypress, 8-5, and were kept in that game by 15 saves from goalie James Rydjeski.
The Mustangs play at Garden Grove on Friday.
