High School Roundup: CdM girls’ tennis advances to semifinals

California Classic
CLOVIS — Corona del Mar High advanced to the semifinals Friday.
In the first round, the Sea Kings defeated Leland of San Jose, 5-2.
In the second round, CdM beat Archbishop Mitty of San Jose, 5-2.
The Sea Kings will face Monte Vista of Cupertino in the semifinals Saturday.

NEWPORT BEACH — Tesoro took the first day lead in the two-day 12th annual tournament.
The team tournament has four teams playing a format of five singles and four doubles, best of nine matches, with every team playing each other. Players are allowed to play singles and doubles with two teams playing singles on five courts while two teams play doubles on four courts.
Tesoro started strong defeating Sage Hill, 5-0, in singles, then split the doubles with Newport Harbor, 2-2, before taking Newport Harbor, 3-2, in singles.
Sage split the doubles, 2-2, with St. Margaret’s.
The tournament continues starting at noon at The Tennis Club Newport Beach with Tesoro in first place, Newport Harbor in second, and Sage Hill and St. Margaret’s tied for third.

Estancia def. Tustin
COSTA MESA – Abby Griffith recorded 15 kills to help lead the Eagles to a 25-17, 12-25, 11-25, 25-20, 15-12 nonleague win Friday.
Lehua Jordan added 12 kills for Estancia (1-1).

San Diego Fall Classic
SANTEE — Sage Hill School went 3-0 in pool play to advance to the gold bracket Friday in the tournament hosted by West Hills High.
The Lightning (4-0) beat Encinitas San Dieguito Academy, 25-20, 25-18, took down Vista, 25-17, 25-21, and scored a 25-16, 25-18 win over Chula Vista Eastlake
Kekai Whitford recorded 26 kills overall and Halland McKenna had 17 kills for Sage Hill.
