Larry Doyle tournament starts Wednesday

Sixteen girls’ basketball teams will contend over four days for the tournament title of the 2012 Larry Doyle OC Championships.
The tournament starts Wednesday with an eight-game schedule. Among the 16 teams vying for the crown are host teams, Marina and Edison. Both teams play 3 p.m. openers on Wednesday with the Vikings hosting Torrance, and the Chargers hosting Esperanza.
The tournament continues with championship and consolation bracket play starting at 3 p.m. both Thursday and Friday. The tournament wraps on Dec. 29 with games starting at 3 p.m. The championship game is 7:30 p.m. at Marina; the consolation championship game is at 7:30 p.m. at Edison.
The tournament is named in honor of former Marina athletic director Larry Doyle who, at age 49, died of cancer in April of 1999.

At Marina High:
3 p.m.: Torrance vs. Marina
4:30 p.m.: Centennial/Corona vs. Warren
6 p.m.: North Torrance vs. Santa Margarita
7:30 p.m.: Clovis vs. Laguna Hills
At Edison High:
3 p.m.: Esperanza vs. Edison
4:30 p.m.: Redondo Union vs. Aliso Niguel
6 p.m.: San Clemente vs. Villa Park
7:30 p.m.: Shafter (CA.) vs. Orange Lutheran
