High School Roundup: Tennison leads the way

WALNUT — Newport Harbor High senior Paige Tennison continued her strong postseason as she qualified first in the CIF Southern Section Division 2 girls’ race at the preliminaries Saturday at Mt. San Antonio College.
Tennison’s performance was among several highlights produced from Newport-Mesa area tams.
Tennison finished in 17 minutes and 25 second to win her heat and qualify first overall.
She will race next week in the CIF Southern Section finals at Mt. SAC.

Corona del Mar
The CdM boys’ and girls’ teams qualified for the CIF Southern Section Division 3 finals at the prelims meet Saturday at Mt. SAC.
The CdM girls qualified second out of 17 teams to move on to next week’s finals.
Lilly Schmidt (13th in her heat in 19:23), Kirsten Hansen (20th, 19:42), Elin Wolker (23rd, 19:46), Shelby Perez (28th, 20:04) and Hannah Crane (44th, 20:20) helped the Sea Kings advance.
The CdM boys qualified fifth out of 18 teams. Reid Meckler (10th, 15:49), Teddy Parks (16th, 16:06), Spencer Keith (20th, 16:11), Greg May (39th, 16:41) and Ethan Hold (63rd, 17:06) helped the Sea Kings advance.

Costa Mesa
The Costa Mesa boys qualified sixth to advance to the CIF Southern Section Division 4 finals at Mt. SAC.
The Mustangs grabbed the final qualifying spot to move on to next week.
Brett Bermudez (6th in 16:10), Dakota Alford (9th, 16:16), Amare Magana (27th, 16:54), Jorge Jeronimo (29th, 16:59) and David Alcala (77th, 18:40) helped Costa Mesa advance.

Sage Hill
The Sage Hill boys’ sand girls’ teams advanced to next week’s CIF Southern Section Division 5 finals at Mt. SAC.
The Lightning girls qualified fifth led by Brittany Andressoo (20th, 20:35), Sophia Witte (27th, 21:05), Lili Mora (28th, 21:07), Claire Goul (52nd, 22:28) and Alyssa Anderson (54th, 22:31).
The Sage Hill boys also qualified fifth. Cameron Knollenberg (14th, 17:27), Alexis Michaca (32nd, 18:04), Chris Andras (35th, 18:08), Brennan Hicks (36th, 18:10) and Patrick Hynes (38th, 18:16) contributed to the Lightning advancing.
