High School Roundup: Ocean View boys’ basketball wins Golden West League opener

Kurtis Vu had 14 points on four three-pointers as the Ocean View High boys’ basketball team beat Western 72-35 on Friday night in the Seahawks’ Golden West League opener at Ocean View High.
Slater Miller and Devon Vu each added 11 points for the Seahawks (10-8).
Newport Harbor 60, Huntington Beach 49: Sam Barela had 18 points for the Sailors in Friday’s Sunset Conference crossover game at Newport Harbor High.
Dayne Chalmers scored 12 for Newport Harbor (19-1), which won its 15th straight game. Will Harvey had 10.
Huntington Beach fell to 8-12.
Corona del Mar 59, Fountain Valley 41: Jack Stone scored 21 points for the Sea Kings in Friday’s Sunset Conference crossover game.
John Humphreys added 16 points for CdM (14-5).
Jeremiah Davis led Fountain Valley (7-15) with 16 points.
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Ocean View 50, Western 37: Seahawks senior center Helen Reynolds matched her career-high with 31 points in Friday’s Golden West League opener.
Ocean View improved to 10-9 with the win. The Seahawks will host Segerstrom on Tuesday at 5:45 p.m.
BOYS’ SOCCER
Edison 4, Marina 0: Marcus Henze had two goals and an assist to lead the host Chargers to a win on Friday in a Sunset Conference crossover game.
Bryan Corona and Ethan Van Buren each added a goal for Edison (8-4-4).
Estancia 2, Santa Ana 2: The Eagles earned a draw against the visiting Saints in Friday’s Orange Coast League game.
Carlos Delgado and Marcos Arreola scored goals for the Eagles, and Chapin Camberos had two assists.
Estancia is now 8-5-2 overall and 0-1-1 in league.
Santa Ana came into the game tied for 10th in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 poll.
Los Alamitos 2, Laguna Beach 1: The visiting Breakers lost Friday’s Sunset Conference crossover game, dropping their overall record to 3-3-3.
Jet Rocha scored the Laguna Beach goal.
GIRLS’ WATER POLO
Laguna Beach 8, Foothill 6: Molly Renner scored three goals as the top-ranked Breakers improved to 11-0 with Friday’s nonleague road win.
Emma Lineback and Tea Poljak both scored twice for the Breakers.
GIRLS’ SOCCER
Pacifica Christian Orange County 3, Connelly 0: Sadie Hill, Alyssa Smith and Brooklyn Motske all scored for the Tritons in Friday’s nonleague match at Vanguard University.
Sophomore Jo Snider had her ninth shutout for Pacifica Christian (9-1), ranked No. 6 in CIF Southern Section Division 6.
