High school roundup: Sage Hill baseball reaches Newport Elks Tournament semifinals

Junior Drake Mossman went two for three with a double and a run batted in, helping the Sage Hill School baseball team beat visiting Artesia 10-0 and advance to the Orange County Division semifinals of the Newport Elks Tournament on Monday.
The game was called after five inning because of the 10-run mercy rule.
Sophomore William Ho picked up his first career win, striking out six and allowing three hits in five innings.
Sage Hill (4-0), which won its pool, will play in the semifinals at home against University on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
Estancia 4, Southlands Christian 2: Sophomore Jake Covey improved to 2-0 after going five innings for the Eagles in Monday’s home game in the Newport Elks Tournament Orange County Division.
Nick Mazur had the save.
The Eagles (3-1) can win their pool with a win at home against Santa Ana Valley on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
Gahr 6, Corona del Mar 2: Senior Chazz Martinez had two hits, one being a double, in the visiting Sea Kings’ game in the Frank Lerner Division of the Newport Elks Tournament on Monday.
CdM (0-2) continues tournament play at Riverside Poly on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
University 2, Costa Mesa 1: The Mustangs dropped to 1-1 in the Orange County Division of the Newport Elks Tournament on the road Monday.
Costa Mesa is at home against Cerritos Valley Christian in the tournament on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
Arlington 5, Newport Harbor 1: The Sailors’ lone run came in the top of the first inning on the road during Monday’s Newport Elks Tournament Foothill Division game.
Newport Harbor fell to 2-3.

BOYS’ GOLF
Glendora Tournament
Guy Clauss and Ryan Shih each shot a 78, helping Corona del Mar’s three-player team finish with a 239 and place third on Monday.
TJ Jenkins had an 83 for the Sea Kings.
Mater Dei won the 30-team tournament.
