High school roundup: Gutierrez’s two goals lead Estancia in shutout win

Senior Sergio Gutierrez scored twice in the Eagles’ 5-0 shutout victory at Calvary Chapel in an Orange Coast League boys’ soccer game on Friday.
Senior Angel Ortiz, junior Miguel Pena and senior Andy Martinez added goals.
Estancia hosts Costa Mesa on Wednesday at 5 p.m., as the teams renew the Battle for the Bell rivalry.
Costa Mesa 2, Laguna Beach 1: The Mustangs improved to 3-0-1 in league with Friday’s win at Laguna Beach.
Sterling Butler scored the goal for the Breakers (7-4-2, 2-1-1).
Laguna Beach takes to the road to face Saddleback (9-6-1, 1-2-1) at 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL
Newport Harbor 64, Los Alamitos 54: Junior forward Dayne Chalmers scored 24 points with 10 rebounds, as the visiting Sailors beat Los Alamitos in Friday’s Sunset League game.
Senior forward Brad Siegel had 15 points, and senior guard Zack Swies added 13 points.
Newport Harbor (17-5, 4-1) travels to Huntington Beach next Friday for a 7 p.m. tip-off.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Fountain Valley 63, Marina 56 (OT): Senior Megan Hugues led the Barons with 14 points and seven rebounds, as host Fountain Valley (8-14, 1-4) picked up its first Sunset League win on Thursday.
Senior center Monet Oncu added five points and 14 rebounds. Sophomore guard Tiffany Shimizu added 13 points, which included converting all seven of her free-throw attempts.

GIRLS’ WATER POLO
Estancia 18, Bolsa Grande 1: Annie Mitchell and Sydni White each had four goals for the Eagles in Thursday’s nonleague game at Costa Mesa High.
Freshman Casey Corrigan added three goals for Estancia (5-5), while seniors Grace Amaya and Zora McPhail each had two goals. Gidget Brestel, Mackenzie McIntyre and Bella Dunham also scored.
Mitchell had seven saves in goal, while McPhail had three and Corrigan added two.
