College Roundup: Lions too much for William Jessup

Vanguard 97, William Jessup 55
DeAngelo Jones and Keith Mason were both four for four from the field to help the host Lions roll in the Golden State Athletic Conference game Thursday.
Jones made all three of his three-point attempts and all four of his foul shots to produce 15 points.
Mason was three for four from the free-throw line to collect 11 points and six rebounds, while senior guard Chris Gorman led the winners (5-4, 1-1 in conference) with 21 points.
Kwinn Hanson had 12 points and four rebounds off the bench for Vanguard, which shot 61% from the field (36 for 59). The Lions starters were 21 for 30 from the field (70%).
The Warriors fell to 9-3, 1-2.
Vanguard visits The Master’s College on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Pasadena 54, Orange Coast 53
IRVINE — Sophomore Jasmine Matar had 18 points and nine rebounds for the Pirates in the opening round of the Irvine Valley Tournament on Thursday at IVC.
Bianca Gonzales had 11 points and nien rebounds off the bench for OCC (2-6), which shot just 28.2% from the field (20 for 71) and made just six of 14 foul shots (42.9%).
Pasadena is 5-2.
