High School Roundup: Estancia boys’ basketball in semfinals of Los Amigos tourney

FOUNTAIN VALLEY — Senior Gunnar Johnston scored 14 points to lead the Estancia High boys’ basketball team to a 38-35 win and moved the Eagles into the semifinals of the Los Amigos tournament.
Senior Kaena McReynolds added seven points for Estancia, which plays on Friday.

Newport Harbor 78, Santiago 41
Colin Pipkin scored 17 points to lead the Sailors in a pool-play game of the Godinez tournament Wednesday.
Garrett Davis scored 14 points and Joey Faris added 12 points for Newport Harbor (2-0), which advances to the Gold bracket and will face host Godinez Thursday at 3:30 p.m.

Freshman Sergio Gutierrez scored the first goal for the Eagles in their season opener at Jim Scott Stadium Wednesday.
Junior Kevin Pizarro produced the assist with a cross in the 20th minute.
Senior Brandon Mendes scored off an assist from junior Chris Moya in the 68th minute for Estancia (1-0).

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO — Alan Alcantara scored a goal and had two assists for the Sailors in their season opener Wednesday.
Hugo Enriquez scored two goals and Dominic Shetter had an assist for Newport Harbor (1-0).
Goalie Victor Negrete had three saves for the Sailors, who play at Estancia Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Kayla Gratzer made eight saves for the Lightning in the nonleague game Thursday.
