UC Irvine 78, Long Beach State 58
UC Irvine senior Camille Buckley and junior Methlyn Onogomuho both had double-doubles to lead the host Anteaters in the Big West Conference game on Thursday.
Buckley amassed 21 rebounds and 15 points, while Onogomuho had 15 points and 12 rebounds as the Anteaters posted a 55-35 rebounding advantage and forced 24 Long Beach State turnovers.
It’s the 10th double-double of the season for Buckley, the 23rd of her career. Onogomuho now has four career double-doubles.
UCI junior reserve guard Madison McKenney hit three of her four second-half three-pointers to add 14 points, while senior Jennifer Tsurumoto and senior Jasmine Bernard chipped in 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Tsurumoto added eight assists, six rebounds and matched Onogomuho for team-best honors with three steals to help UCI improve to 11-11, 4-4 in conference.
The 49ers are 12-10, 4-4.
