COSTA MESA — Sarah McKinny had seven kills and three blocks to help lead Vanguard to a 25-15, 25-17, 25-19 nonconference win Saturday.
Rachael Barker had six kills, Carly Maxwell had 32 assists and Kelly Heenan contributed 10 digs for Vanguard (9-6).
Hope International is 2-7.

Boise State def. UC Irvine
TUCSON, Ariz. — Aly Squires had 14 kills for the Anteaters in their 25-18, 25-21, 25-14 loss at the Arizona Desert Classic, hosted by the Wildcats.
Squires was named to her third All-Tournament team this season. Marissa Alvarez recorded a double-double with 19 assists and 12 digs and Kristin Winkler picked up 16 digs in the effort for UCI (5-8).
Marisa Bubica, who put away six kills against the Broncos, was also named to the all-tournament team.
Boise State is 7-7.

Lindsey Wilson 2, Vanguard 1
CLEVELAND, Tenn. — The No. 16-ranked Lions suffered their first loss of the season at the Lady Flames Classic Saturday.
Amanda Couch scored for Vanguard (4-1) in the 21st minute to tie the game, 1-1.
No. 2-ranked Lindsey Wilson (3-2-1) scored the game-winner in the 73rd minute.

NorCal Tournament
STANFORD — No. 6-ranked UC Irvine split a pair of games Saturday at Stanford’s Belardi Pool.
Bojan Hrlec, Winston Newland, Nick Pfeil and Mitch Wise led UCI with two goals apiece in an 11-8, overtime win over UC San Diego Saturday morning.
Later Saturday, UCI (8-1) suffered its first loss of the season, falling to No. 3 Cal, 14-7.
Hrlec led UCI with three goals while Mitchell Hamilton scored three for the Bears, who led 11-4 at halftime.
The Anteaters will face seventh-ranked Pacific in a fifth-place bracket semifinal Sunday morning at 9:25 at Avery Pool.
