Los Amigos’ Adolfo Chavez, Arturo Torres make All-Garden Grove League first team in football

Los Amigos High senior receiver Adolfo Chavez and senior offensive lineman Arturo Torres have each earned first-team All-Garden Grove League accolades in football.

Chavez and Torres helped the Lobos go 3-7 overall and 1-4 in the league under first-year coach Maopu Tuato. Though the Lobos failed to advance to the CIF Southern Section Division 14 playoffs, they snapped a six-game losing streak by beating Bolsa Grande 33-10 in the league and season finale.

Several Los Amigos players also earned second-team recognition, including senior offensive lineman Armando Aguilar and senior running back Carlos Vargas. On defense, Los Amigos junior lineman Gabriel Langinbelik, junior linebackers Moises Magdaleno and Joseph Hernandez, and junior defensive back Romero Hernandez all earned second-team honors.

Loara’s Robert Aguilar, a senior kicker and free safety, earned league MVP honors. The Saxons finished in a three-way tie for first in the league with Rancho Alamitos and Santiago.

Santiago senior quarterback Bernardo Monroy was the league Offensive Player of the Year, while Santiago junior Derrick Martin earned Back of the Year honors.

Rancho Alamitos junior Kyle Culbert was the league Defensive Player of the Year, with Loara junior Ahmen Hassamein as the Defensive Lineman of the Year and Rancho Alamitos senior kicker Andres Puentes as the Special Teams Player of the Year.
